Dr. Rick Kubina Jr., Ph.D., BCBA-D is a Professor of Special Education at The Pennsylvania State University and serves as CentralReach's Director of Research. His academic journey began at Youngstown State University under the mentorship of Steve Graf, followed by earning his Masters and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, where he studied under John Cooper.

 

At Penn State, Dr. Kubina teaches courses on methods for teaching reading, behavior analysis, single-case experimental design, and educational assessment. His research interests span the intersection of learning, science, and technology, with particular focus on Applied Behavior Analysis and Precision Teaching. His work encompasses studies on explicit instruction, video modeling, robotics, and effective practice methods.

 

As a leader in his field, Dr. Kubina served as the Editor of the Journal of Precision Teaching and Celeration. His career has been dedicated to empowering behavior change agents – including teachers, behavior analysts, and other helping professionals – to efficiently improve outcomes through effective teaching and measurement methodologies.

 

In the technology sector, Dr. Kubina co-founded Chartlytics, a software company that was acquired by CentralReach in 2018. As CentralReach's Director of Research, he focuses on leveraging technology to accelerate superior outcomes in behavioral health. His current work involves the digitization of behavioral health processes, artificial intelligence applications, and the development of measurably superior learning programs. He actively collaborates with school districts, healthcare providers, and technology professionals to implement these innovative approaches.

 

Through his research and leadership at CentralReach, Dr. Kubina continues to shape the future of clinical solutions and educational technology, working at the forefront of combining behavioral science with technological advancement to enhance learning and behavioral outcomes.
