"With CentralReach ABA Knowledge Builder we’re able to see data immediately, and we can make informed decisions right at the occurrence of behaviors."
Associate Professor, MSABA Academic Program Director, ABAI/VCS Coordinator
National University
Dr. Sharlyn Crump, a recent CentralReach Autism and IDD Care Award winner, shared with us her experiences in the ABA field. Dr. Crump has worked in the field for 29 years and counting. Currently, she is the MS ABA program director/coordinator at National University, overseeing this rapidly growing program. Dr. Crump and her team at National University use CentralReach’s ABA Knowledge Builder to teach the next generation of behavior analysts.
When asked what earning the Care Award meant, she said, “it was a benchmark to show that I’m out there doing the work. There are so many things we have to do silently behind the scenes to keep our organizations going. And to be able to have the recognition that I’m doing a good job and I’m on target, it’s reinforcing, and it’s humbling.”
The best part of being in the autism/IDD community for Dr. Crump is supporting and helping others–Whether she is working directly with clients or shaping and building practitioners to better serve individuals in this community.
Success Stories
Dr. Crump works directly with clients, as well as actively teaches the next generation of ABA professionals using CentralReach. She shared that her students are her success stories. She adds, “They are learning from day one, and we're seeing in the data that they're growing and understanding the content.” Dr. Crump shares that even in her students’ first week of coursework, they are learning and growing as future clinicians. One thing her students learn from the start is how to graph accurately, including using condition lines and trend lines. The ability to graph and analyze data is a vital component of a behavior analyst’s work.

CentralReach’s Impact
Dr. Crump shared how CentralReach has impacted her practices. She stated that she wanted her students to collect data to make data-driven decisions about their own behaviors, increasing their behavior analytic content knowledge. She enjoys being able to easily show clinical outcomes through data collection using CentralReach while teaching her students how to use it to make treatment decisions in client care.
Educating the Future
Dr. Crump encourages other universities to use CentralReach’s ABA Knowledge Builder. She states, “I would highly recommend it because we’re able to see data immediately, and we can make informed decisions right at the occurrence of behaviors.” CentralReach allows her students to learn in real-time and with real situations in a way that in-class learning and tests cannot.
