Behavioral Innovations

A Legacy of Clinical Excellence

For 25 years, Behavioral Innovations has been devoted to delivering high-quality, accessible ABA therapy. What began as a single center in Texas has expanded to over 100 locations across five states. As pioneers in the field, the leadership team at Behavioral Innovations understands that the key to clinical excellence lies in comprehensively trained behavior technicians.

Recognizing this, they invest in staff training and development initiatives that equip RBTs with the skills and knowledge needed to drive positive outcomes for their clients.

Challenges in RBT Development: Engagement, Quality, and Compliance

With increasing demand for ABA, practices need dedicated, well-trained RBTs more than ever. But to prepare RBTs for this critical role, comprehensive training is necessary.

Developing skilled, confident technicians comes with challenges. Keeping trainees engaged, balancing online learning with hands-on practice, and meeting evolving BACB requirements, state and federal laws, and payor compliance standards, all add complexity to the training process.

Without a comprehensive training workflow, the stakes are high: poor-quality care that impacts client outcomes, compromised client safety, and potential compliance issues. Further, with the upcoming transition to the 3rd Edition 40-Hour Training Requirements and Curriculum Outline, practices must update their training protocols to align with the new standards.

To maintain BACB compliance while strengthening their RBT training program, Behavioral Innovations partnered with CentralReach for early access to the new 3rd Edition 40-hour course.

How Behavioral Innovations Elevates RBT Training with CR Institute

Recognizing the need for comprehensive training, Behavioral Innovations has developed a structured training workflow in partnership with CR Institute. New technicians complete the 40-hour training course along a customized learning path. As they progress through the training, they’re given opportunities for hands-on practice with behavioral skills training (BST). To fit their unique training timeline and align with their supplemental training materials, they reordered the course within CentralReach. This tailored approach has proven effective, meeting BACB requirements while addressing the organization’s specific needs.

The new 3rd Edition RBT Course features updated, shorter videos that are easier to digest. The enhanced version also includes flip cards, animations, guided notes, and role-play activities. Courtney reflected on the interactive features, conveying,

“I loved how [the 3rd Edition RBT Course's role-playing activities] could be naturally incorporated to allow the person to be able to practice the skill that they just learned.”

Beyond the initial RBT training, Behavioral Innovations places a strong emphasis on ongoing professional development. They combine CR Institute courses with internal trainings and use surveys to identify the topics RBTs would most benefit from, ensuring professional development aligns closely with their team’s needs.

Looking Ahead

As the ABA field evolves, with new RBT training and maintenance standards and increasingly strict payor regulations, Behavioral Innovations has turned to CR Institute as a trusted partner. CR Institute takes the heavy lifting off clinicians’ plates, ensuring behavior technicians are well-trained, compliant, and supported with ongoing professional development opportunities.

For ABA practices looking to strengthen their RBT training and professional development, Behavioral Innovations’ advice is simple: collaborate with your team to identify your organization’s needs and tailor your training strategy within CR Institute accordingly.

By investing in comprehensive training, Behavioral Innovations can continue its legacy of clinical excellence. The team feels secure transitioning into 2026, knowing they have a plan already in action to address the new RBT training standards.

Courtney noted, “Our partnership with Central Reach Institute is something that has been really helpful throughout the process. It's going to help us as we move into 2026.”
