FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 29, 2022 -- CentralReach, the leading provider of Autism and IDD Care software, is pleased to announce Mari Cerda, PhD, BCBA, LBA, as their keynote speaker at the fourth annual CR Unite, the Autism and IDD Care Conference, held this year in San Diego, California, from October 24-27.

Dr. Cerda is a board-certified behavior analyst, a former special education teacher, and an inclusion coordinator who has a deep passion for advocacy work with both schools and clinics to develop trauma-responsive, neurodiversity affirming practices. Identifying herself as a Mesoamerican Indigenous woman, Dr. Cerda is also the founder and director of the Lighthouse Learning Center in Lubbock, Texas, and co-founder of the Lighthouse for Equitable Access and Practices (LEAP) Institute, a non-profit organization that addresses the disparity of diverse practitioners in the Applied Behavior Analysis field.

Her work focuses on shifting language use in program development and practice to reframe and move away from unintentional ableist frameworks that are often rooted in traditional therapy and educational settings. Much of this work pulls from Indigenous Research Methods which deconstruct traditional Western approaches.

“I am incredibly excited to be the keynote speaker at this year’s CR Unite conference,” said Dr. Cerda. “Working in the behavior analysis field keeps me humble and I learn new things every day from my clients and the amazing staff that I work with. All of this has helped frame my perspective around compassionate and culturally responsive clinical care to achieve better outcomes for my clients and I am thrilled to share the lessons I’ve learned from working in this industry with attendees at this year’s CR Unite conference.”

The multi-day event features dynamic content and a powerful lineup of inspiring autism and IDD care thought leaders, headlined by Dr. Cerda, and CentralReach software experts who will provide insights and best practices to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving care environment.

CR Unite will be the first, and largest, in-person event hosted by CentralReach since the healthcare technology company announced the creation of a new category, Autism and IDD Care Software, last month to address the need for solutions that support the lifelong care journey for individuals diagnosed with autism and IDD.
